Can You Connect a GPS Unit to Your LCD TV

I read a few weeks ago the story of a man who pluged his GPS unit to one of these
7 “retractable LCD TV Portable units often found in cars these days. These small TVs are also used to play DVDs on the go.

I was not sure how the man went about doing this, and was not even sure if it was technically possible to connect a GPS unit to a portable TV so you could see the digital map and listen to instructions directly from the TV speakers .

If this is possible, I suppose, the connection would be done via Bluetooth (as most models these days are Bluetooth-enabled).

So I decided to investigate this matter and What I found is very interesting.

On the one hand, most GPS units were not designed with this feature: no video output connectors and can not transmit via Bluetooth positioning data.

However, there are some advanced GPS equipment now available and one of the pioneers as far as GPS units connect to TV screens, Nav N Go launched some time ago a product called Nav N Go Limousine.

This is a superior gadget that allows you to connect to a LCD TV. Sold in a box containing a Nav N Go Limousine Navigator unit, an SD card with 2GB of memory loaded with navigation software and digital maps, an external GPS receiver, a remote control, Cables and Accessories Installation speaker, an external infrared sensor, and a guide.

If they ask me my opinion on the possibility of connecting a GPS unit to a TV screen, I’m still a little skeptical. Display quality and type are different and the result may not be as impressive as you may think. The second problem is that even if you can connect your GPS to an LCD TV screen, you still cannot the touch screen menus. And if you plan to use television to the directions, keeping the GPS unit in the glove compartment, it is likely to miss the positioning signal in there!
